Sports
There should be a policy to develop all sports in Cameroon and encourage the youth to practice them: basketball, volleyball, cycling, swimming, handball, athletics, judo, karate, table tennis, lawn-tennis, etc. Getting all those sports out the ghetto of marginalization so that the common saying that claims there are no major nor minor sports in Cameroon becomes a reality. We must not forget that athletics and boxing have already given our country Olympic recognition and glory. All sports, all sportsmen or sportswomen should be given an equal opportunity. All sportsmen are indomitable lions as soon as they wear the national colors. There should be no injustice.
Cameroonian sportsmen or athletes perform wonders in professional championship all over the world. We have volleyball players in european championships. We have cameroonian basketball players in university championships in the united states or in european championships. We have good volleyball players for example. Sports should really be organized and infrastructures should be created. A country like ours with the national football team we have cannot have a decent stadium. That is cause for great shame for us. Our sportsmen and sportswomen are treated so poorly because of the same old problems of mismanagement and corruption. In a football world cup, the indomitable lions will sometimes endure long hours of bus travelling instead of plane. The players are constantly cheated and robbed of their payment.
Those incidents have become the norm in our country. This goes for athletes or other sportsmen. Not long ago, our volleyball players who were to play a tournament in a neighbor country had to go there on dugouts. Things like that happen in our country, sad but true.
In order to stimulate our youth, new sports activities based on popular games that are practiced by our kids in our cities, in our villages should be popularised through organized tournaments: rope games, hair braiding contests for girls; marble game, ball juggling, drawing contests, basketball throw, dunk contests, and so on.
