Makin' History
History does not wait to be written inside books in
order to be History. History does not wait to be captured by photographers’
cameras in order to be History. History does not to be broadcasted on
television in order to be History. History does not wait for radio programs in
order to be History. History does not wait for the Internet in order to be
History. History does not wait for the limelight in order to be History.
History does not wait for the media in order to be History. History does not
wait for great personalities in order to be History. History does not wait for
a specific moment, an extra circumstance in order to be History.
Every day, ordinary people can make History. Every
day, anonymous agents can make actions that influence History. Every day,
History can be made by you, by me, or anybody anywhere, at any time. The even
ordinary actions we make and that can change the curse of life or give it a new
direction are History.
Talkin’ about our people, the friendly hand extended
to an African bro’ or sis’ no matter the ethnicity, nationality or continent
today, is a historical act that pushes forward our History and History as well.
The acknowledgment by any African from Africa, the Caribbean, Europe and
America of the common identity of all Africans of the world who form one unique
family is a historical act that pushes forward our History and History as well.
Whether said in Pointe-à-Pitre, Cotonou, Washington, Bogota, La Havana,
Brazzaville, Fort-de-France, Kigali, Niamey, Kingston, Port-au-Prince, Abuja,
Montreal, London, Monrovia, Accra, the word that will infuse in any son or
daughter of Africa the love for our race as well as the desire for African renaissance
and glory is a historical act that pushes forward the History of our people and
world History. The energy invested for the black cause; the personal dedication
of any son or daughter of Africa no matter the nationality or continent today
is a historical act that pushes forward our History and History.
We all can make History, (yes we can*), every day,
everywhere, as long as we become aware of it. We all individually are actors and agents of
History. Let us not envision ourselves as spectators. Let us henceforth take
the decision and decide to every day contribute in the writing of that new page
of the black people history. Let each one of us write our History as we want it
to be.
