A cult culture
The cult mentality for me is just one of those foibles we must definitely get rid of if we so ambition to give the National Triangle a new start. This deeply rooted cult culture is a major problem for our country. The very last thing a nation that's on its way needs is a people of followers, worshipers.
The cult of authority, the cult of the palace, the cult of the title, the cult of the function, the cult of the "CA" license plate, the cult of the name, the cult of the renown, the cult of personality, the cult of personalities, the cult of the stripe, the cult of the uniform, the cult of the of the suit, the cult of the tie, the cult of this, the cult of that. As a devoted son of the National Triangle, I must admit that I'm fighting real hard not to use the notorious cameroonian idiom: "too much… (something) kills… (the thing)". I will take my chance too and venture to say: "too much cult… kills the cult".
Too much cult is indeed harmful to Cameroon. Too much cult is a factor of the status quo we are witnessing in Cameroon. Too much cult just wearies out an already wearied out Cameroon. Too much cult puts Cameroonians in a position of flatterers and devotees. Too much cult prevents a lucid judgment on the way our administrators are managing the cradle of our fathers. This cult mentality really brings no good to Cameroon.
When those in charge of the country fail to fulfill their duty due to incompetence, sabotage, treason or any serious reason, the right reaction expect from the citizens is separation, divorce. The citizen must turn away and turn their backs on those administrators. One cannot disapprove something in the day yet run bow down and flatter it in the night using the title, the function, the palace, the uniform, the suit, the tie, the stripe, the name, the renown, the "CA" license plate, or even the tribe as an excuse. Such a behavior sort of legitimates the guilty deeds and their authors. Honestly, how can one claim to complain again? Those are the limits of the cult mentality.
In the National Triangle, why not for example replace this meaningless cult culture by a culture cult? We have very rich cultures that are unfortunately, I must say, insufficiently studied up to this day. The knowledge, the techniques, the technology that we inherited from our Ancestors if need be just ask to be updated, recycled, thought again so as to be operative in this 21st century. Culture does encompass many fields: medicine, architecture, habitat, gastronomy, industry, music, urbanism, economy, ecology (the proper use of Nature), metallurgy, cosmetics, clothing, mathematics, the institutions: justice, the police, the army, an assembly of the people (National Assembly). Culture includes all them fields.
A cult of the culture instead of a cult culture or mentality. Let us love our cultures. Let us cultivate the love for our cultures. Our cultures is our identity. Our cultures is our weapons. Our cultures is our future.
