The importance of the Word

The word is a precious gift. The ageless african wisdom gives the word a special importance in the life of men. The word is a force and that force causes the life of men to move. The word generates the action in the community. Depending on its nature, the word can arouse all kind of emotions and reactions on those who hear it. Thus, can the word bring peace or war. The word can bring hope or despair and lead to chaos. The word can bring happiness or misery. We inherited the legacy and knowledge of the word from a remote time that is not ours, but the one of our ancestors, our fathers and mothers of yesterday who built the foundations of the men end women we are today.

So, depending on the way we use it, the word can cause harmony or disorder in the community. It is therefore always better for to use it in a good way, for all the components of society being interconnected the effects of the word end up affecting the whole. Now, if the word is essential in the life of the community, we can easily guess that the act of listening is fundamental as well. The ability of listening must strongly be required then. What is the use of word if no ear is going to listen?

Unfortunately, we much too often forget that the word is an energy. We forget about that precious energy simply because we overlook it. Yet the word is a natural resource - maybe the first – that ought to be acknowledged as such and its potential must therefore be used for the good of the entire community. The word cannot at all be considered the privilege of a happy few, but a common right, regardless of age or sex. Be us 3 or 33, 9 or 90, 12 or 120, we all have the natural right to express ourselves through word, but let us use that right in a constructive way. So, a humble son of The National Triangle wishes to address the other sons and daughters of The National Triangle, hopefully to tell useful things. The word being a tool designed to help build the community, the village, the kingdom, the nation, that humble son of the cradle of our fathers thus hopes to contribute his modest stone in the making of the pyramid of Cameroon.
