Maafa, Yovoda (slavery)
« Maafa » is a Kiswahili word that comes from Swahili people (eastern Africa, central Africa). That word can be translated as « great disaster », « calamity ». « Maafa » as become an idiom to name them centuries of slavery the african people been enduring.« Yovoda » in Eve language (Benin, Togo), means « the crime of the white man» or the European transatlantic slavery against the Africans. This word too encounters a growing popularity in the black community.
